How to Choose the Right Filter for Your Home

Clean drinking water is essential for maintaining good health, yet many of us overlook the importance of ensuring that the water we consume is free from contaminants. If you don't filter your water, your liver becomes the primary filter for impurities and toxins. This can lead to a range of health issues over time, underscoring the critical need for an effective water filtration system in your home.

If you don't filter your water, your liver BECOMES the filter.

but isn't my tap water safe?

We are lucky to have water that will not make us sick with gastroinstestinal issues, like many developing countries world wide. Water in NZ for example is treated with chlorine to remove bacteria and protozoa (E. coli and Cryptosporidium).

However, only 78% of the population received drinking-water that fully complied with all Standards in 2021 (Annual water compliance report 2021).

In the US, a three-year study of the nation's drinking water quality found more than 200 unregulated chemicals in the tap water of 45 states (source).

EWG spent three years analyzing the results of almost 20 million drinking water tests from water utilities. They detected 316 pollutants in water supplied to Americans since 2004. More than half are completely unregulated, and more than 130 turned up in amounts exceeding official health-based guidelines (source).

ways to filter water

Mechanical Filters: physically remove sediment, dirt or any particles in the water using a barrier. These filters are given a micron rating which indicates how effective the filters are in terms of the size of the particles it is capable of removing.

Absorption Filters: most commonly carried out by carbon, which is highly effective at capturing water-borne contaminants.

Ion Exchange Filters: Ion exchange is a process used to soften hard water by exchanging the magnesium and calcium ions found in hard water with other ions such as sodium or hydrogen ions.

Reverse Osmosis Filters: Reverse osmosis (RO) is the process of removing dissolved inorganic solids (such as magnesium and calcium ions) from water by forcing it through a semipermeable membrane under pressure so that the water passes through but most of the contaminants are left behind. Reverse osmosis is a highly effective way of purifying water and is usually combined with a number of other filters such as a mechanical (sediment) filter and an absorption (activated carbon) filter in order to return water with few contaminants remaining.

why I love watersco filters

Removing harmful substances from your water is the first place to start and many filter systems do a great job of this. But activating your water so it can hydrate at a cellular level is an extra benefit and why after much research I advocate for Watersco Filters.

Their filters add trace minerals BACK into the water that support all major organ function, bone density, cell tissue formation and communications. They also slightly alkalinise the water, which may help remove waste matter from cell tissues and blood.
